Over the past 4 years, Pylon One has delivered the full network infrastructure as well as all of the IT requirements to The Skills Show held at the NEC in Birmingham each November. The show is part of the National Apprenticeship Service and delivers competitions in a wide range of disciplines to find the country's most skilled people in each discipline, ranging from bricklaying to IT and networking, to hairdressing and beauty.
In excess of 100 000 visitors attend the show
The team of14 technicians have 6 days to install a network covering 11 halls within the NEC, as well as deploying over 250 computers, 60 printers and other equipment required for the delivery of both the event as well as the skills competitions themselves.
Summary of the Pylon One provision:
- 200mbps of internet bandwidth
- 500 hard wired connections
- 50 x wireless access points
- 350 x desktop and laptop computers
- 60 x printers
- 8 x technicians providing on site support for the duration of the event
Pylon One have been delivering the event for the past three years and were given an extended two year contract this year, in recognition of the successful delivery of the event.
